Pre-historic Wisconsin? Much more interesting than you would guess. Some 10,000 years ago there were folks and big animals living in the area -- watch out for the mammoths and giant beavers! Human existence responded to weather conditions, animal populations, the presence of minerals, and how the corn was coming up, meaning it wasn't too different than how things are today.

When Jean Nicolet arrived on the shores of Green Bay in 1634, he met six different Native American tribes who were farming and lived in moveable villages (in a subsistence survival pattern). And they were throwing (dropping?) some very interesting stuff into the privies.

Listen inListen in for some insights into Kyoki's coming-of-age novel "One Bird," waving at strangers, and why brats and burgers are totally out of the question.
