Your Grandma

A special one in your life was Grandma
Very special for your loved on Grandpa
They met at early part of their lives
Chopping cotton was work not without strife

Mother and father both just passed away
Living with half sister, Alice, making her way
Brothers gone off to fight in the awful war
Her life was torn apart not as comfortable as before

A cancer patient dying, was here mother
Taking care of her alone there was no other
Reality setting in facing it all on her own
That's about when your Grandpa come along

Spend his time in that awful time gone
was left once more without one alone
Writing letters almost every night and day
Both was very luck he came home to stay

Grandma is special for me and you
Lived her life for all of us true blue
For all future kids who will never know
her life and deeds will always show

Stand up for her in her fateful life
If for nothing else making Grandpa a wife
In anything else that you can throw in
Hasn't been any better since way back then
